Miguel Illescas has the title of International Grandmaster of Chess. He has been 8 times absolute Spanish champion, and reached the top 30 in the world in the 90s. At the end of his sports career he worked for 8 years as a trainer of world champion Vladimir Kramnik. A computer scientist by training, he was an advisor to IBM in the development of the Deep Blue machine, which defeated Garry Kasparov. He currently works for La Vanguardia, and is also an entrepreneur, writer and lecturer.

Miguel holds the title of senior coach of the International Chess Federation, and is recognized as one of the most prestigious authors, highlighting since 2001 his work as editor of the magazine Peón de Rey , which she has also directed since 2013. Author of countless videos and articles for the most prestigious publications, Miguel's style is characterized by the clarity with which he exposes his ideas, and thus manages to make the most complex chess concepts accessible to any amateur.
