Understanding Before Moving 1 (Revised 2nd ed.)

In my opinion, the average club player will be more satisfied with an opening book offering a profusion of ideas. If this is also structured, you can expect readers to acquire the necessary understanding of the standard positions. Based on this guideline, developing an opening repertoire could easily become an enjoyable pastime. Together with my Belgian chess friend Daniel Vanheirzeele, the owner of Thinkers Publishing, i have been able to discuss the background of the openings in a much more detailed way, something i could not do in my series of articles due to lack of space.

We hope to take the reader from the opening to the unfathomable depths of grandmaster chess. Here we try in our own way to give a complete explanation of the many plans, ideas and concepts that often remain hidden beneath the surface. In this way we hope to give the club player something to cling to, as he really wants the question answered: how to continue if the opponent deviates from the theory?
