Description

Modern chess theory has expanded significantly in recent years due to technological development and the advent of chess engines. Studying chess openings, even with the help of these machines that present a divine level, is a time-consuming task, but it is by far the most important part of preparing the best Grand Masters. They often look for ideas that offer a glimmer of hope of an advantage over whites or that try to neutralize (or even counter) whites' ideas over blacks. Today, any information of this kind spreads in moments and every day, we can see new games and new ideas in every opening. This makes it a challenge for people trying to learn a new opening due to the "oversupply" of information.

When I was writing my books on Spanish, I wanted to simplify the learning process and make this openness accessible and understandable to everyone. As the next step in my journey as an author, I decided to write a book about Nimzoindia as part of a three-volume series that would cover the entire repertoire of black women after 1.d4. As in the case of the Ruy Lopez books, I intend to make this opening a comfortable choice in any player's repertoire.

The Nimzo-Indian is a good and solid opening, but nevertheless can be quite complicated. In general, the games in this opening are more likely to be strategic battles rather than tactical, but as in all openings, things can get tough from time to time. It is important to note that a large majority of the top players (including World Champion Magnus Carlsen) play this opening.

I remember I started learning Nimzo-India in 2009 but only incorporated it into my repertoire in 2010. Since then I've played a lot of interesting games with her and I think playing these kinds of positions has helped me improve as a player. Through years of analysis and practice, I've learned a wealth of ideas, plans, configurations and more. When I study chess (and chess openings especially), I must admit that I enjoy the process of academic research and the search for truth. I'm happy when I discover a certain resource or idea that hasn't been played yet. In this book, the reader can find many of those ideas. However, it is very easy to exaggerate and analyze "too much", which would only result in confusion for the reader. I think I have covered all the lines (sorry if I missed something by pure chance!) and I have made everything clear and concise to overcome the "overload" of information mentioned above.

I hope the reader finds the ideas in this book interesting and enjoys the journey through the labyrinth of nimzoindian variations.
