Garry Kasparov's talent was soon recognized, but it was only at the age of 15 when he qualified for the renowned USSR Championship that the chess world also began to consider him a potential future champion. However, on his way to the throne, Kasparov had to overcome numerous obstacles. Kasparov felt he was being pushed aside by the Soviet Federation, which backed Karpov, and by FIDE. He eventually hatched and at age 22 became the youngest world champion of all time. He led the board fight above all else and enriched chess with an incredibly dynamic style of play, while preparing the games scientifically. Kasparov was far ahead of his time in the use of electronic aids: computers and database programs such as ChessBase. What. His many encounters with the pragmatic Karpov represented the collision of two quite different styles of play, in which those two players were by far the best in the world. Besides those duels, Kasparov also competed in many tournaments and always came with the same mentality: win the games and the tournament.
