Chess Endgames 13 - Double rook endings
Endings with two rooks occur frequently and are different from those with one rook in several ways. However, there is much less literature on them. This DVD will help fill that gap. Many general guidelines are valid, of course, since the activity is the first item on the agenda; The king must block the passed pawns, but not the rooks and the place of the rook is behind the passed pawn, whether it is one's own or the enemy's. But there are also many new elements. Especially the safety of the king plays a much greater role due to the firepower on the board. Therefore, the value of additional pawns often increases, as they can provide the king with more needed shelter. In addition, the endgame expert carefully discusses the issue of the correct way to make changes, which arises much more often than in single rook endings. So it is important to develop a good intuition to know whether it is the defender or the attacker who benefits from the exchange with a pair of rooks. Video footage: 4 hours 34 minutes.
