Chess Expertise Step by Step Vol. 4: Endgame Magic
It is in the final part of the game that a well-educated player can pose the most problems for the opponent. The weight of each play increases; each mistake can be very costly; great precision is needed. In our times, with the abolition of postponements and increasingly rapid time controls, knowledge of endings has become more important than ever before. This DVD, called 'Endgame Magic', attempts to cover important pieces of that field and help assimilate knowledge and understand in depth the proper handling of the ending in certain cases. We will examine how to take advantage of isolated pawns in the endgame, how to try to win or defend with a rook and rook pawn against bishop and rook pawn (on the same flank), the square technique when the quality advantage seems difficult to capitalize on, such as winning or defending with a queen against a rook, how to benefit from the opponent's scattered pawns, how to play some specific pawn endings and finally what are the problems of the quality advantage against the bishop pair. As Laurence Fishburn says in 'The Matrix', 'It is different to know the path than to walk the path.' Video footage: 4 hours.
