What Grandmasters Don't See Vol. 3: Summary and Test
Many times, when a top-level player makes a serious mistake, it is routinely described with the esoteric expression "chess blindness." In the series ""What Grandmasters Don't See"", world-class coach and commentator Maurice Ashley debunks the myth and explains for the first time why these errors most often lie in the psychology of human learning. In this DVD, the third of three in the series, Ashley completes his idea of protected squares from the first volume, showing that squares apparently protected by pieces are often the breeding ground for astonishing tactical oversights. He also recasts the themes of all three volumes to give an overview of the key aspects in which the viewer can profit from the oversights typical of players of all levels. In the first part of the DVD, Ashley uses interesting and entertaining positions to explain the main points in his characteristic lively style. The second half of the album is full of examples to test what the viewer has learned, with a series of exercises that gradually increase in difficulty. The material is obtained from both classic and recent games. Video footage: 3 hours 45 minutes.
