Beating the Sicilian: Grandmaster Bologan's Repertoire Vol.3
In the third volume of the Open Sicilian, Black's second move 2...e6 is addressed, which he normally adopts when he is looking for a complex game, full of subtleties with which to overcome White, especially when his opponent has lower score. But the other side of the coin is that Black takes quite high risks and with a rigorous reaction White can get them into serious trouble. Of course the DVD is mainly dedicated to all kinds of variants of the Paulsen with 4… a6 and 4… Nc6, in which against most of the main variants the author advises the same configuration used against the Najdorf and the Dragon with Be3 , f3 and Qd2, usually followed by long castling. Despite the many games played every day, White is still far from being able to equalize with certainty. Apart from some minor variants like 5…Bb4, it is quite important to learn how to play the classic Keres Attack. After 6.g4, my recommendation, only the variation with 6…e5 still poses unpleasant questions to White, to which, of course, I have tried to provide some answers. With the last installment of the Sicilian trilogy, I would encourage the viewer to play the Open Sicilian and to have the DVDs as partners, reference material and friends in both critical and good situations. Video footage: 5 hours.
