The 4 Player Types standard model
Playing styles in chess are an important and therefore often discussed topic. GM Dr. Karsten Müller and GM Luis Engel adopt a model from GM Lars Bo Hansen based on 4 types of players: "activists", "pragmatists", "theorists" and the so-called "reflectors". Their respective strengths and weaknesses are explained with the help of many examples, allowing the reader to try to assign himself to one or another type of player.

It 's Louis Engel, born in 2002, became a Grandmaster at the age of 17 and was German Champion in 2020 and won the German Masters in 2021. He plays in the 1st Bundesliga for Hamburger SK and is studying law.
It 's Karsten Müller, born in 1970, has a worldwide reputation as one of the world's foremost experts on finals. He has written, together with Frank Lamprecht, a book on the subject: undFundamental Chess Endings” in addition to other contributions such as his column on the websites ChessCafe and ChessBase and in ChessBase.
