The Modernized Anti-Sicilians (vol. 1)

The Sicilian Defence has historically been the most popular weapon of the Negroes against 1.e4. Their prestige is based on a combative character and a combative approach; Black not only plays for equality, but seeks to acquire counterattack opportunities directly from the opening. In response, the prevalence of Antisicilians (alternatives to 3.d4) spread due to their value in reducing the effectiveness of Black's counterplay. In this series, my goal is to lay the foundations for a repertoire that seeks to preserve the fundamental values of anti-Sicilians. I mean, I've constantly tried to create endless practical difficulties for black women, while wisely waiting for the right moment to open the position and generate a dangerous initiative.

For too long, anti-Sicilian rhetoric has focused on the logic of simplicity, aimed at reaching playable positions with easy plans and, at the same time, avoiding theoretical depths. The danger of this logic is the ease with which we can fall into the trap of inactivity; of playing without thinking about an opening without making an effort to disturb black; of playing only an Anti-Sicilian to avoid theory. In contrast, throughout the volumes I will advocate an active approach, with ongoing underlying themes of achieving rapid development, dynamic piece play and dominant central control, with an important focus on denying Black the counterplay it seeks by choosing the Sicilian Defence.

In almost every system against the various Sicilians, I have provided the reader with multiple options to choose from. Today's job openings are constantly changing, and the need for flexibility in preparation has never been more vital. Having the ability to play different systems against the same opening is also beneficial in increasing our enjoyment of chess. In addition, each alternative varies in style, allowing us to directly target our opponent's weaknesses as well as focus on our own strengths. Obviously, I can't promise that every line will give us an edge. But by providing a wide variety of different options, we can constantly make life difficult for black women and keep coming up with new and interesting ideas.

Although each variation has been revised and inspired by a combination of Leela Zero and Stockfish, the emphasis has always been on choosing the most human lines. Readers may notice that the analysis is usually extensive; I felt that this was often necessary to justify my suggestions. However, the focus in these volumes should be the inspiration of the various ideas, rather than the memorization of long lines. Along with textual explanations, my fundamental hope is that the reader will absorb the interconnected ideas between each variation. This will be of great use in responding to future developments in the Antisiciliano.
